College Credit Plus Information

Earn college credit while in high school.
                    
Opportunity for students to earn high school and college credit through courses offered in the high school and on a college campus.
                    
Who’s eligible? Students who will be entering grades 7-12 for the 2026-27 academic year may be eligible to participate in College Credit Plus (CCP). Students must gain acceptance to a participating college or university AND meet their entrance testing requirements. 
                    
College Credit Plus Courses earn high school AND college credit with the grades earned being calculated in high school GPA and rank. NOTE: The student/parent will be expected to reimburse the district all costs for any CCP course in which the student fails to complete the college course either through withdrawal or nonattendance OR if the student earns a failing grade in the college course. 
                    
INFORMATIONAL MEETING: Students and parents should attend the CCP informational meeting scheduled for January 15, 2026, at 6:30 PM in the Kuss Auditorium. Representatives from local colleges and universities will be invited to be present. The PowerPoints from the informational meeting will be available for viewing on the NE website for those who were not able to attend the meeting. 
                    
APRIL 1 DEADLINE: The Ohio Department of Education has set April 1 as the deadline for students to submit a signed “Intent to Participate” form to their high school guidance office in order to be eligible to participate in College Credit Plus the upcoming academic year. This form is required for courses taken at the high school for college credit as well as those taken at the college. NOTE: SUBMITTING THIS FORM BY THE DEADLINE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS EVEN FOR THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED IN COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS THE PREVIOUS ACADEMIC YEAR.

How Are High School Grades Awarded for CCP

  • High School credit will be awarded according to the following systems:

Semester Hour Courses  
1 Semester Hours = .33 credit of high school credit  
2 Semester Hours = .66 credit of high school credit  
3 Semester Hours = 1.00 credit of high school credit  
4 Semester Hours = 1.00 credit of high school credit  
5+Semester Hours = 1.00 credit of high school credit 

  • Course grades will be transferred from the college/university via the college’s student reporting system and will become part of the student’s high school academic coursework (transcript). Courses will be figured accordingly in the student’s G.P.A./class ranking.
  • Senior students enrolled in colleges/universities where the term ends after the school graduation may participate in the ceremony based on the following stipulations:

a)    Certification by a college/university official that the student is in good academic standing and progressing satisfactorily towards course completion.
b)    The student’s diploma will be withheld until final college/university transcripts are reviewed at the high school verifying successful course completion.

ENGLISH 1111/1600 (6 college credits; 2 high school credits)  
English I (Writing Intensive)/Introduction to Literature  INOTE: A grade of “C” or higher is required in ENG 1111 in order to stay enrolled in ENG 1600 for college credit in the second semester. 

ENGLISH 1112/2300 (6 college credits; 2 high school credits) English II (Writing Intensive)/Great Books: World Literature NOTE: A grade of “C” or higher is required in ENG 1111 in order to take ENG 1112   MTH 1280 COLLEGE ALGEBRA (4 college credits; 1 high school credit)  

MTH 1340 PRE-CALCULUS (5 college credits; 1 high school credit)  
MTH 2200 CALCULUS I (5 college credits; 1 high school credit)  
STT 2640 ELEMENTARY STATISTICS (3 college credits; 1 high school credit)

GLG 1133 ENVIRONMENTAL GEOLOGY (4 college credits; 1 high school credit)  
CSD 1510 PROGRAMMING FUNDAMENTALS WITH PYTHON (3 college credit hours; 1 high school credit)  

MGT 1105 INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS (2 college credit hours; 0.67 high school credits)

ALL COURSES LISTED IN THE ABOVE PATHWAYS, PLUS NUMEROUS ADDITIONAL CCP COURSES, ARE BEING TAUGHT AT NORTHEASTERN. THIS ALLOWS KR STUDENTS TO EARN COLLEGE CREDIT WITHOUT TRAVELING TO THE COLLEGE, WITHOUT GIVING UP THEIR HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE AND OPPORTUNITIES. STUDENTS ALSO HAVE DAILY ACCESS TO THEIR CCP TEACHERS AT NE, WHICH ALLOWS FOR EASY ACCESS TO COMMUNICATION AND ASSISTANCE.
